Who moved my cheese?

This is one of my favourite reading material. I bought the book years ago and truly enjoyed it. An eye opener, a reminder, very good especially when one is afraid of changes in life. This presentation is a bonus and I applaud the creator Vedanta Mission!

Enjoy!!

Blackheads

it is just too good not to share! may it be of benefit to those who needs it.
"How to we get rid of blackheads and whiteheads"

I don't like to see my nose like that! uurgghh.. (the copy paste continues)

Maintaining a clear and beautiful skin, takes time, consistency and effort. Dermatologist may recommend lots of products, but some of them can be expensive and may actually take a long time to work. You can, however, incorporate some home remedies for blackheads and whiteheads into your daily beauty regimen and in a few weeks, you will experience a drastic reduction or even total elimination of the problem.
● Toothpaste – Toothpaste is an effective blackhead and whitehead remover. Apply a thin paste to your infected areas and let it sit on your face for at least 25 minutes. You will probably feel a burning sensation when you apply the toothpaste, but this is normal and will pass. Once you remove the toothpaste, the top of your blackheads and whiteheads will disappear, but you still need to thoroughly wash your face to remove the buildup underneath. Repeat this home remedy every other day for two weeks.
● Tomato – Tomatoes have natural antiseptic properties that dry up whiteheads and blackheads. Peel and mash a small tomato. Apply the tomato pulp to your blackheads and whiteheads before going to bed. Leave the tomato pulp on your face while you sleep and then wash your face in warm water in the morning.
● Lemon -Wash your face in warm water. Then, squeeze the juice of one lemon into a bowl. Add in a pinch of salt and stir the mixture. Apply the mixture to your blackheads and whiteheads. Leave the mixture on for approximately 20 minutes and then wash your face with warm water again.
● Lime – You can also use equal parts of lime juice and cinnamon powder and apply this mixture to blackheads. Leave it on overnight and rinse it off in the morning
● Cornstarch – Mix about a three-to-one cornstarch to vinegar ratio into a paste. Apply it to your problem areas and let sit for 15 to 30 minutes. Remove the paste with warm water and a washcloth.
● Yogurt - Mix three tablespoons of plain yogurt with two tablespoons of oatmeal. Add one teaspoon of olive oil and one tablespoon of lemon juice to the mixture. Stir the mixture thoroughly and apply it to the effective area of the face. Let the mixture sit for five to seven minutes then rinse off with cold water.
● Almond or oatmeal – Mix either oatmeal or almond powder with just enough rose water to make a spreadable paste. Apply it to your problem areas with your fingertips first and then apply it to the rest of your face. Let it set for about 15 minutes and then rinse your face with cold water.
● Rice – Soak rice in milk for 5 hours and then grind this in a blender until it is paste-like in consistency. Use the paste as a scrub on affected areas of the body.
● Potatoes – Grate raw potatoes and then rub the area with the mixture. Wash it off after 15 minutes.
● Fenugreek leaves – Crush some fenugreek leaves and mix with water to form a paste. Put this on the face for 15 minutes and then remove it. Do this every night to keep your face free of blackheads.
● Coriander leaves – Mix some coriander leaves and a little turmeric powder with water and form a paste. Use this as a mask to eliminate blackheads.
● Oatmeal -Grind oatmeal into a powder in a blender and then add some rose water. Use this on affected areas for 15 minutes and then wash it off with cold water.
● Baking soda – Prepare a mixture of equal parts of baking soda and water and rub it onto your face or other body areas prone to blackheads. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water.
● Honey is also good for removing blackheads. Spread honey on the affected area and remove it after 15 minutes.
Remember – Be gentle to your skin. Never pinch, scrape, poke, press, or squeeze too hard!

Garlic butter prawns with salted egg..

simple to do.. kids love it, in fact... the entire family does. I am one who cooks simply..
never like the hassle, the tedious meticulous recipes.. erkkss..
I've always felt that food is what keeps us going, fuel for the body, so make it simple and nice and filling till the next meal.

How did I prepare this...

I needed:
  • Shrimps (peel as you wish it. I always feel it is easier for the kids to eat when I peel them all, plus I use the shell to make stock. Seriously exquisite taste when I cook soups)
  • butter.. I am 'butter lover', just love it.
  • two or three teaspoon of cooking oil
  • a little flour to coat and fry the shrimps with
  • one salted egg, boiled and mashed.
  • cream or evaporated milk.
  • curry leaves or its' scientific name Murraya koenigii
  • of course garlic (lots) and shallots - tiny cubes of it
  • chili padi or what some call bird's eye chili/Thai chili - you have a choice to cube it or cut to two. If you like them spicy then more is good.
  • a pinch of salt and sugar (to your taste)

How?
  • Shrimp first: clean, wash and dry the shrimps.. then just coat them with a thin layer of flour (tempura flour is nice) and fry in the cooking oil. Once almost done, pick it up and leave aside. *I never cook them for too long, else it harden and you loose the juice.
  • Then the gravy: Use the oil to fry your shrimps, add the butter then sautee the curry leaves, shallots and garlic, add the chili padi and stir fry. Add the mashed salted egg, and cream/evaporated milk, the sugar and salt giving it a quick stir before taking it off the heat.
You can either pour the gravy onto the fried shrimps or simply mix them all in the gravy...
serve with freshly cooked rice...
yummy! eating time...

Murtabak

Breakfast dish today. 'Murtabak Maggi', a famous dish lately. So, I tried it out, and it turns out to be quite simple and tasty.
Murtabak, also mutabbaq, (Arabic:  مطبق ) is a stuffed pancake or pan-fried bread which is commonly found in Saudi Arabia. Depending on the location, the name and ingredients can significantly vary. The name mutabbaq (or sometimes mutabbag) in Arabic means "folded". In Indonesia, the Murtabak is one of the most popular street food menu and is well known as Martabak.

My style, general recipe...  here goes.

Instant noodles, soak to soften and strain the water away. I choose the 'Kari' (curry) flavour for its spiciness.

Saute some minced chicken with diced onions... and add the seasoning from the packet of instant noodle. You can use beef or choice of seafood in replace of chicken.

Beat eggs (just enough to cover the noodles) and add the cooked minced chicken.
If you wish, add some button mushroom, diced celery or cabbage. Then pour in the noodles that you have sieved earlier and mix. Coat your pan with a teaspoon of frying oil, and scoop some noodles onto the pan, fry for a minute or two before turning it, slightly pressing it down so the egg would cover the bottom side of the murtabak. Leave it to cook.

Finish up, serve while it is hot with some sauce... I choose chili sauce. (something I don't find when I was in Madinah/Makkah)

there you are... enjoy!
I've seen some substitute the instant noodles with pasta, it should work well too.
Happy cooking and eating it afterwards!

Ipoh 'Mali'

I always look forward to travelling up north. The scenery that awaits is one that I can never get enough of.
This time round, instead of driving, I traveled by train, ETS

sharp on time, it moved...

first station after KL Sentral.

hungry tummy! sold at coach C. Nasi lemak and Milo for breakfast.

Right now, at 9:32am it is moving at a speed of 136km/h. We pulled out of Tanjung Malim station about 10 minutes earlier.

Ask me where we are now, I cannot answer.
Ahhhh... Maybe they heard my unspoken question, 'next station Slim River'.

As much as I'd like to stay awake, my eyes are pretty heavy due to my late hours staying awake prior to the journey. So, I've half an hour before reaching my destination, Ipoh. Wanna nap a bit. Zzz .

Arrival... IPOH.
