Interesting tour really.

TOP Right: House fully made of wood. These are the places it can still be seen. Towns are concrete jungles.

TOP Left: Is where they rare birds for the nest. That is one of the many swallow bird nest building in the low lying areas around Jugra. It looks like bird nest farming is catching up in this area.

BOTTOM: The Masjid Al-Muttaqin, Permatang Pasir where I stopped for Asar.

 

Full of historic spots. Living in the suburban area, all the greens and the water surely was refreshing.

TOP: Before turning for Jugra, this house is one that any badminton fan would want to see. It produced World Champs known as the Sidek family. Banting is where they came from!

BOTTOM: Finally heading for home…

Without referring to a map, I wouldn’t know the towns that I will pass through. Trips like these, I appreciate now because it enlightens me. A weekend spent well.

Royal Mausoleum of Sultan Abdul Samad

It was getting late but I wanted badly to see it. Only to be disappointed; the gates are already closed. All yellow, the colour that is used by the royalties of Malaysia, the mausoleum is rather serene surrounded by tall trees. Hmm… just as well. I needed to rush for Asar anyway. It was going to be six in the evening in less than an hour and I needed to reach home by Maghrib. So, without even getting out of the car, I took some photos. It has a guardian that I was afraid to instigate… it was eyeing my camera!

Sungai Langat, Banting

This is a continuation from our drive down Bukit Jugra. We were hungry since we haven’t had lunch since checking out of the hotel. Famished! So we stopped by the river bank for some ‘Seafood’… fresh seafood. It is also where fishermen parks their boats. Ask me where I am in the map… I seriously do not know! Only that it is along the river of Sungai Langat.

The children who speaks only Chinese, saw me with the camera and came running. As I focused the lens… they darted away… so cute!

Sorry… hungry!

Bukit Jugra, Selangor

The name alone intrigues… Bandar Jugra is a historical town and former royal town in the state of Selangor, Malaysia. It is located near Banting in the district of Kuala Langat in Selangor (wikipedia). Not like what it was in the eighteenth century, it still houses what is now His-Story; Jugra’s history. And if you know how to enjoy the stories… you’d also want to explore this place. However, my being there was a little over two hours. One cannot rush to enjoy this place. (Pic was the closest I could zoom-in from the river bank). That’s the light house; which is 146 meter above sea level and the lighthouse itself is 25 meter tall. It was built in 1976 and is still serving till today. It was the first stop as we drive through the quiet village.

Hardly any cars around, in fact you’d wonder if it’s inhabited at all… giving it the mysterious air.  Down the road is Masjid Al-Muttaqin, Permatang Pasir and Bukit Jugra is it’s background. I wanted to go to the hill top… along that we passed Masjid and Chinese Temple indicating the major population as Malays and the Chinese. Maybe it was the time we were there and the weather… you don’t see many people out and about.

It is worth the drive up hill. The panoramic view is breathtaking…

if you can zoom in top left, you’d see the port at the horizon. This man was one of three I came across walking up. “Exercise!” God gracious… and this one is bare-footed. It was hot… no camera tricks.

That’s durian trees (top left)… durian orchard! There was a story I found in one of the webs… about a fairy princess known as Puteri Gunung Ledang. She was said to have made Bukit Jugra her home at one point. Read on if you like, just click on the link where her name is.

Pantai Morib, Banting

Morib Beach (Pantai Morib) is a quiet seaside tourist attraction which is historically noted for being one of the first landing points on the west coast for the British and Indian Army liberation forces during World War II. It has a small but suitable beach for swimming. Nearby is a park of tall casuarinas trees and visitors will enjoy a peaceful stroll along the tranquil atmosphere. (extracted from Wikipedia) 

  Situated in the State of Selangor, it faces the Malacca Straits, therefore the water is unlike the one on the east of Malaysia where it faces the open sea. That too has effects on the sand I found out. Some may still want to swim in the sea but I’ll stay on the dry sand and opt for the pool instead. The sea water isn’t too enticing in my eyes. There’s other kinds of activities you can do at Morib beach now. Besides the local government erected a beautiful corniche and made it a spot for tourist attraction.

BOTTOM: My reason for not swimming in there. Little fishes my kids says… “Mama snap! Mama snap!” … the school of fishes was swimming by the edge of the corniche.

Lovely for everything else I suppose… fly kites… so many sizes. Walk, picnic, playground… just sit… enjoy the breeze.

 

My two girls opted for bubbles… one squeak as you blow. We had a good time. Family time.

… and me.. playing with lightings?? good ones?? I love it! Lots to learn though…
